Sofía Vergara Sued for $1 Million for Allegedly Not Paying Contractor

A contractor hired by Sofía Vergara is suing the actress for $1.7 million in renovation costs claiming that she left them high and dry when she received the hefty bill.

In a lawsuit filed by Reside Custom Homes (RCH), the contractors said after they completed their work on her $26-million home in the Beverly Park neighborhood, they never received payment. RCH said this comes after she allegedly approved one of the invoices for nearly $900,000.

According to RCH, their work was mostly completed by December 2022, but the job was extended another three months after Vergara asked for more renovations that were outside of their initial agreement.

Vergara argues that she is the one that sent a demand letter to RCH back in early October claiming that the company owed her $5 million in damages for overcharging her on the home improvements and for doing insufficient work. This work includes the installation of clay plaster in at least seven separate rooms and the removal and replacement of a flight of stairs.

“My client made claims against the contractor, Reside, several months before this specious lawsuit was filed,” Vergara’s lawyer, Marty Singer, told the Daily Mail. “Sofía Vergara’s claims were for significant overcharging by Reside, substandard and negligent work, and long delays seeking damages in excess of $5 million. We are confident that my client will prevail in this dispute.”

The 6-bedroom, 10-bathroom mansion was purchased by Sofía Vergara in 2020 with her then-husband, Joe Manganiello. This past summer, the couple announced they were getting a divorce after a 7-year marriage.
