Peso Pluma Just Won a Grammy

Peso Pluma is officially a Grammy winner. On Feb. 4, the Mexican artist won his first gramophone for Best Música Mexicana Album (including Tejano) for GÉNESIS at the 66th annual Grammy Awards during the pre-telecast Premiere Ceremony. The pre-telecast is taking place at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, CA, ahead of the main Grammys ceremony at the Crypto.com Arena.

Although the “LADY GAGA” singer wasn’t present at the pre-telecast, he thanked his fans via his social media. “Thanks to all of you who listen and support my music, today a dream came true, not only mine but of an entire team,” he wrote on X in Spanish. “I will continue to represent my country wherever I go ! Happy to belong to the list of great Mexican artists winners of a Grammy . 🇲🇽🌎LOS AMOOOOO 🫶🏻.

Peso Pluma was the only male artist nominated in the Best Música Mexicana Album (including Tejano) category this year. He shared the category with Ana Bárbara’s Bordado a Mano, Flor de Toloache’s Motherflower, Lila Downs’ La Sánchez, and Lupita Infante’s Amor Como en las Películas de Antes. 

Moreover, this is the only category La Doble P was nominated in. Despite his huge breakout year in 2023, the Mexican hitmaker didn’t receive a nod for Best New Artist. Other Latine nominees at this year’s award show include Ice Spice, Karol G, Tainy, Rauw Alejandro, and Edgar Barrera. However, none of the Latine nominated artists will be performing during the main telecast.

Fans are thrilled about Peso Pluma’s win. A social media user wrote: “PESO PLUMA WON A GRAMMY HES MAKING US MEXICAN PROUD 🥹.” Another social media user commented: “PESO PLUMA JUST WON HIS FIRST GRAMMY YAAAY,” paired with a video clip of people applauding.

The 2024 Grammy Awards will air live on CBS and via streaming on Paramount+ on Feb. 4 at 8 p.m. EST.
