Karol G Is the First Latina To Win This Grammy

Karol G is now a Grammy-winning artist. On Feb. 4, the Colombian superstar won her first Grammy for Best Música Urbana Album for her latest album, MAÑANA SERÁ BONITO, at the 66th annual Grammy Awards. The Grammy Awards are currently taking place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, CA.

“Hi everybody. My name is Karol G. I am from Medellín, Colombia,” the “MAMIII” singer said during her acceptance speech. “This is my first time at [the] Grammys, and this is my first time holding my own Grammy. I’m super happy; I’m super nervous, and I’m super excited to be in front of so many legends that I admire and respect. This is such a beautiful thing.”

She continued: “My album has given me the best memories in my own life – my whole life. My fans that came and enjoyed my album, that get motivation, inspiration with me and heal with me. Thank you so much! I promise to give you my best always! And I hope this is the first of so many. So thank you, everybody!” She also gave a shoutout to her nominated colleagues Tainy and Rauw Alejandro. Though Tainy didn’t win for his album DATA, he collaborated as a producer on Karol’s winning album.

Not only did Karol win her first Grammy, but she also made history as the first female artist to win the Best Música Urbana Album. Past winners include two consecutive wins by Bad Bunny since the category was introduced in 2022.

Up next, Karol G will kick off her Mañana Será Bonito Tour in Latin America. She will start the LatAm leg at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, Mexico, on Feb. 8. She will then continue to tour Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Venezuela, and Colombia. After Latin America, she will take her tour to Europe in the summer.
