Jwan Yosef Speaks for First Time About Spilt with Ricky Martin — Here’s What He Said
Jwan Yosef is speaking for the first time about his split with husband Ricky Martin.
Recently, reporters encountered Yosef on the street and asked him if he and Martin were actually getting a divorce. “Everything is fine, this is not a good place for this,” he said.
Then, they asked him how the family is doing. “The family is happy,” he said. “Separated but happy.”
The couple, who had been married for six years, announced their divorce in early July.
“We have decided to end our marriage with love, respect and dignity for our children and honoring what we have experienced as a couple all these wonderful years,” Martin and Yosef said in a joint statement.
“Our greatest desire now is to continue having a healthy family dynamic and a relationship centered on peace and friendship to continue the joint upbringing of our children, preserving the respect and love we have for each other.”
Although this was the first time the public heard Yosef’s voice since news of the divorce broke, it wasn’t the first time he went public with a message. On July 13, Yosef reemerged on Instagram with a pair of photos of himself and a caption that read, “Tender Loving Care.”
Martin responded to Yosef’s post with the letters “Hbb,” which are an abbreviation for the word “habibi.” In Arabic, “habibi” is a term of endearment that means “my love.”
Ricky Martin and Jwan Yosef share two children: daughter Lucia, born in 2018, and son Renn, born in 2019. Martin also has twin teenage sons, Matteo and Valentino, who recently joined their father on stage at one of his concerts.
