Monsieur Periné Announces Indefinite Hiatus After Nearly Two Decades

The acclaimed Colombian band Monsieur Periné announced on Tuesday (Sept. 29) that they are entering an indefinite hiatus. The group, known for their unique fusion of pop, jazz, and rock, shared the news via an emotional statement on Instagram, signaling a period of separation for the members.

“We’re parting ways,” the band wrote. “We’ve spent a long time trying to figure out how to make this decision and, most importantly, how to communicate it to you, who have been there since day one. Perhaps this is the most difficult decision we’ve ever had to make. And we’re still trying to process it. Each of us in our own time. Each of us in our own way.”

The band, led by vocalist Catalina García and multi-instrumentalist Santiago Prieto, emphasized the need for individual space. “We are going to separate. We don’t know for how long. What we do know is that we need this space. An individual space that we believe will do us good and, hopefully, allow us to reconnect in the future from another place, in another mood.”

The announcement was accompanied by a carousel of images documenting the band’s journey, from early concerts to major awards ceremonies. The final slide detailed their remaining tour dates, which include eight performances across the U.S. and Latin America, concluding on Nov. 29 in Puerto Rico.

Guerrera PR & Marketing confirmed the news in a statement, noting, “After nearly two decades of music, performances, and a career that has taken them around the world, the band members have decided to part ways for an indefinite period to take individual space. These final performances will mark the closing of an important chapter in Monsieur Periné’s history.”

Formed in Bogotá in 2007, the duo rose to prominence with their debut album Hecho a Mano (2012). Their discography includes the Latin Grammy-winning Caja de Música (2015) and Bolero Apocalíptico (2023), as well as their most recent release, Instrucciones Para Ser Feliz (2025), which earned a Latin Grammy nomination for best contemporary pop album. Their hits, such as “Nuestra Canción” and “Bailar Contigo,” have solidified their place in the Latin music landscape.
