WATCH: Tokischa Teams Up With Marshmello for ‘Estilazo’
As if the summer isn’t already scorching with new anthems, today (April 29), we’re gifted with the sexiest collab of the season from Domican rising star Tokischa and incognito American producer Marshmello with “Estilazo.” Although both come from different planets, the two orbit in unison on their newest single, creating a hit we genuinely can’t get enough of — and it’s only been out less than 24 hours.
Even though Latine artists have always dabbled in electronic tones, Tokischa does it with a salacious coolness that can’t be overlooked or overdone. “Estilazo” is all about the raunchy and unashamed queer manner Tokischa has known to put on full display, with no room for apologies. With a pulsating EDM, trap-infused, and dembow beat, the track is a declaration of sexual liberation and inclusiveness — something we all need this year. “Estilazo” fearlessly repeats the slogan “ser perra está de moda,” accompanied by a vibrant video featuring drag queens and performers voguing down the runway and even celebrity cameos from Dennis Rodman, Nikkita Dragun, and La Demi.
The video is playful, showing the girls competing for their best drag look, making anyone watching ready to dance and pull out dips if they dare. “Larga vida homosexual,” Tokischa says on the track. And as she states, long live the gays!
In a press statement, Marshmello spoke about working with the young Dominican artist on the track: “Working with Tokischa was awesome. I flew down to the Dominican Republic and we made the song right there on the spot. Toki is obviously amazing and talented, so working with her was super fun and I’m super happy with how the song came out.”
So whether you’re at the club or sitting at home, one thing is foolproof: We will be singing “ser perra está de moda” all summer long.
