Inspired by Burberry’s woodland fantasy-esque SS21 collection, the Burberry x Dazed Nature Tapes campaign sees TikTok creators explore their local outdoors and become new-era Attenboroughs

In the last year, where being stuck indoors is the norm and travel has been inhibited, the power of nature has become all the more effervescent. Whether in the uptick in wild swimming, exploring our local areas, or planning future trips in wildernesses yet unknown, our relationship to nature is a potent salve in an uncertain world.

A new partnership between Burberry and Dazed takes this appreciation for the world around us to a playful and creative new level on TikTok, inviting TikTok creators to make short videos in the style of nature documentaries – think David Attenborough or Jane Goodall, of course.

It’s inspired by Riccardo Tisci’s SS21 collection, an ode to the British countryside and summer in all its elements: the woodland runway setting and birdsong-like soundtrack at LFW, the burst of a cobalt blue colour palette that recalls wild coastal scenes, rugged outerwear and hardy layers.

The ‘Nature Tapes’ campaign highlights that connecting with nature can be as simple as stepping out of your front door and appreciating the landscapes and thriving ecosystems around you. Each creator styles out their own take on the classic nature doc. The videos have been shot everywhere from the resplendent waterfalls of Griffin, Georgia, to the imposing cliffs of upstate Ontario, outer California’s expansive forest terrains, to the streets of LA and inner city New York.

Model and actress on the rise Coco Samone looks to impressive, rocky terrains and crisp horizons, while model, actor, and former Dazed 100er Parker Kit Hill struts through the outer rings of NYC. Florida-raised, NYC-based activist and model Yves Mathieu playfully explores some riverbeds in some Arthur Sneakers, and model Salem Mitchell finds peace and serenity in the flowers of her neighbourhood, leading the way with her archive-inspired pocket bag. Lexson Millington, the 70s-obsessed creator who channels Frank Ocean and Steve Lacy in joyful fashion TikToks, swaps lewks for the forest, catching an Olympia bag in the wild.

The creators are styled in pieces from Burberry’s SS21 collection, featuring fresh output from the brand including the Olympia bag and Arthur Sneakers, to the more classic and iconic, including the culture-defining, quintessentially British trench and an update on the oversized Pocket bag.

The classic, soothing voiceover narrates: “Slowly, they emerge from their winter den and rejoin the world outside. Watch as they tread carefully into the wild and see what they discover. Their emergence marks the start of spring”. After a year seeing seasons come and go from our windows in lockdown, we’re finally emerging into the cool air of spring and a post-lockdown world of possibilities. Try your own version of the Burberry x Dazed Nature Tapes series for yourself, if you think you’re Attenborough enough.
