Karol G Graces Cover of ELLE — & Fans Are Pointing Out Contrast to GQ Cover
It’s been a big month for la bichota, Karol G! After performing with Alicia Keys in Colombia earlier this month, she now appears on ELLE magazine’s June/July cover for its music issue n all her natural glory- and fans are loving it.
This cover comes in stark contrast to her last cover appearance for GQ Mexico just last month, where the Colombian Reggaetonera called out the magazine for their ruthless photo alterations. “Today my GQ magazine cover was made public, a cover with an image that DOES NOT represent me,” said Karol in a public Instagram post.
While Karol G expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to grace GQ Mexico’s cover, she also mentioned that this is not only disrespectful to her but to women everywhere who struggle to feel comfortable with their natural selves despite societal stereotypes.
This ELLE cover is the polar opposite, highlighting the chart-topping star’s natural features and feminine energy that Photoshop cannot reproduce. The star once again turned to Instagram, but this time beaming at the invitation to be on the cover and expressing her respect and admiration for the experience they shared.
What’s more, is that the Editor-in-Chief of Elle Magazine is Nina Garcia- another powerhouse Colombian woman whose careful care and consideration shined through in the final cover and magazine spread. In the cover story, Karol G discusses protecting her privacy and basking in her success while wearing Vivienne Westwood and Marc Jacobs.
Fans quickly commented on the cover, tipping off GQ Mexico in how a cover shoot with the queen, Karol G, is done.
Karol G even took her time to sit down and do a Life in Lyrics about her creative process and how she connects with fans.
