Here’s How People Are Reacting to Sofía Vergara & Joe Manganiello Getting Divorced

It came as quite a shock to many people Monday (July 17) when Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello officially announced they were getting divorced after seven years of marriage.

“We have made the difficult decision to divorce,” the couple’s joint statement read according to Page Six. “As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect of our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives.”

Respect and privacy, sure. But that didn’t stop fans of the Hollywood couple from running the gamut of emotions when the news of their split hit online. First, an immediate feeling of disbelief washed over many social media users. What else is someone supposed to do besides drop their jaw on the floor when something like this shows up in their feed?

Other emotions soon took over – from anger to sadness.

Others weren’t quite sure what was going on. Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello are getting what?!

While some had mixed feelings about their divorce, especially as it landed just as Ariana Grande getting divorced was announced.

Some men welcomed the idea of a single Vergara, and joked about shooting their shot if they ever got the chance.

Well, maybe some guys have a better chance than others.

Women, too, weren’t shy about shooting their shot with a single Manganiello.

We’re not sure why the couple is getting divorced, but that didn’t stop people from using sports metaphors to describe what happened on Manganiello’s side of the field.
