Fans Crown Sebastian Yatra & Augusto Alonso’s ‘Lo Que Me Pasa Con Vos’ as Favorite New Latin Music
Sebastian Yatra and Augusto Alonso have captured the hearts of music fans with their latest collaboration, “Lo Que Me Pasa Con Vos.” The track emerged as the clear winner in Billboard’s latest New Music Latin poll, which was published on May 8.
In a resounding show of support for the weekly New Music Latin poll and playlist—a curation featuring recommendations from Billboard Latin and Billboard Español editors—fans cast their votes to name the Colombian and Argentine artists’ collaboration as their favorite release of the week. The song generated an impressive 98% of the total vote, comfortably outpacing a competitive field of new releases, including albums from J Balvin & Ryan Castro (Omerta), Carín León (Muda), Codiciado (Así Es La Vida), and Chuyin (Los Locos Nunca Mueren).
A Heartfelt Collaboration
“Lo Que Me Pasa Con Vos,” which translates to “what happens to me with you,” is a heartfelt pop ballad that explores the vulnerability of an innocent crush. The song follows the narrative of a man finding the courage to make the first move. Co-produced by Sebastian Yatra, Andy Clay, and Ariza, the track highlights the chemistry between the two artists.
“I no longer know how to hide/ What happens to me when you come close to talk/ You—even more oblivious than I am—/ Are surely the only one who won’t catch on,” sings Augusto Alonso, a rising Argentine artist known for his deep, sugary vocal delivery.
Visualizing the Bromance
The official music video for the single further cements the bond between the two performers. It features candid footage of Yatra and Alonso in the recording studio, at private events, and captures the electric moment they first performed the song together live during Yatra’s Entre Tanta Gente Tour stop in Argentina.
Editor’s Note: The weekly New Music Latin poll results are posted if the poll generates more than 1,000 votes.
