Olivia Rodrigo Fans Slam Fake Twitter Stories

Olivia Rodrigo fake news is spreading like wildfire.

On Monday (June 26), tweets concerning the High School Musical: The Musical: The Series alum were posted from a supposed fan account @TheRodrigoHub which is titled “Olivia Rodrigo Updates.” The Twitter account apparently created fake articles concerning the pop star.

The first tweet that gained traction was the supposed article from Teen Vogue and how Johnny Depp allegedly inspired her upcoming sophomore album Guts. The tweet author claimed that she supported him during his defamation trial with his ex-wife Amber Heard and was inspired by his “edgy rockstar gothic aesthetic.” The creator managed to edit a screenshot to create a fake article from the media outlet.

Teen Vogue Senior Entertainment Editor Claire Dodson quote tweeted the fake screenshot with the caption, “This is so obviously fake what was the point?”

Once the retweets started pouring in, the creator turned off the ability to respond or comment to the tweets. Once clicking on the profile, fans discovered that the anonymous person created a fake article from VMagazine, taking a dig at some of Rodrigo’s idols.

A third fake article from The Dartmouth claimed that Rodrigo called Beyonce a “has-been,” something that she obviously did not do. Rodrigo’s legion of fans came to her defense and shared their disgust with stan culture.
