Bad Bunny Breaks Silence on New Album Rumors in Unexpected Way

Is Bad Bunny releasing a new album or not? On Tuesday (Sept. 12), Vanity Fair released a cover story seemingly confirming a new Benito album this fall. Though a new album wasn’t confirmed in the conversation, the media publication noted that it was the “subtext” of their interview. Now, the Puerto Rican artist is denying the news of a forthcoming album in 2023.

“Who read the Vanity Fair interview?” Bad Bunny messaged his fans in Spanish on his new WhatsApp Channel. “Haha someone tell me where I said I was releasing an album this year because nowhere did I say that.”

Since earlier today (Sept. 14), the “WHERE SHE GOES” singer has been posting messages — or updates, as they’re called — on his WhatsApp channel. He told his fans he would try to write more often through the medium. He also shared that he went to the dentist and took a selfie of him on the treatment chair. A couple of hours later, he finally got down to business and clarified that he didn’t say a new album was coming this year — despite VF reports.

In the mentioned in-depth conversation, the publication’s writer, Michelle Ruiz, congratulates the artist for his forthcoming album. He then asks who told her that. After, he instead talks about what’s currently inspiring him, which is music from the ’70s era.

“This is my whatsapp guys hehe do not pay attention to what they say out there if you did not see it here ok,” Benito’s new WhatsApp Channel bio reads in Spanish. The one-sided Channel currently has 376 thousand followers.

This isn’t the first time Bad Bunny has called out a media outlet on something they’ve published. During his first headlining night at Coachella (Apr. 14), he spoke about the controversies following his TIME feature. He told the crowd that people won’t get to know the real him through “a video on Instagram, an interview, or a TikTok.”
