WATCH: The Marías Covered Britney Spears & Sang Bad Bunny Collab
The Marías started going viral earlier today (Oct. 27) thanks to one of the band’s recent Britney Spears covers. At the III Points Festival in Miami, FL, the alternative rock group also performed their hit “Otro Atardecer” from Bad Bunny’s latest album.
After a few years of working in the alternative music scene, The Marías was launched into the global spotlight thanks to their feature on Bad Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti album. The band led by Puerto Rican singer María Zardoya teamed up with Benito for “Otro Atardacer,” which blended his reggaeton sound with their rock influence. Since being released in May, their collaboration has amassed over 189 million streams on Spotify.
The Marías’ name appeared in big print on the line-up post for Miami’s III Points Festival. The band performed on Friday, Oct. 21. Nearly a week later, their performances from the concert are going viral. The Marías’ set included a performance of “Otro Atardacer.” While Bad Bunny was not present, Zardoya held it down on her own with a dreamy version of their song.
But the most buzzed moment from The Marías’ set was their cover of “…Baby One More Time.” The band has covered Britney Spears’ 1999 hit multiple times in their past live shows. The Marías put a rock spin on the track with a bit of the band’s psychedelic sound. Zardoya sounds amazing as she breathes new life into the iconic lyrics.
Back in July, Zardoya performed “Otro Atardecer” with Bad Bunny during his hometown concerts in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Thereafter, she joined him for multiple stops throughout his tour in the U.S. On Nov. 5, The Marías will celebrate the band’s five-year anniversary with a concert at the Lodge Room in Los Angeles, CA. This month, Bad Bunny restarted his World’s Hottest Tour in Latin America.
