Danna Paola Sings ‘Agüita’ & Kisses Fan at Mexico City LGBT Pride

This past weekend, Danna Paola showed her support for the LGBTQ+ community. The Mexican pop star was a highlight at Mexico City LGBT Pride, where she sang her classic “Agüita” and even kissed a lucky fan.

La Marcha del Orgullo LGBT de la Ciudad de México took place on Saturday, June 25. Thousands of folks in the LGBTQ+ community and allies were celebrating the occasion in the Mexico City streets. Danna was a special guest at the event, riding one of the floats during the parade. The singer has a history of supporting the queer community, like with her music videos “TQ Y YA” and “Sodio.”

“As a human, I want to express being free without any judgments in my music,” she told Remezcla in June 2020. “I want to put love into the world and if I can do that with my music, I will always. I’m really grateful for the LGBTQ+ community that makes me feel like I’m a part of their family. Love is love. Love is not ordinary.“

As Danna rode during the parade, when she wasn’t perreando to “Gasolina,” she also performed a few songs for the massive crowd. She had the people screaming along to “Mala Fama,” one of her more recent releases, but she also threw it back to her 2013 classic “Agüita.” The song was written by openly lesbian icon Javiera Mena, and it’s become a gay anthem in Mexico.

“I was 16-years-old,” Danna told Remezcla about the making of the song. “It’s one of my favorite songs ever. It was more my spirit. That song was like a freedom for me. I met Javiera and she was amazing. We made that song what it is today and I’m really proud of it. That song is my anthem.” While Danna was cruising through the crowd, she also kissed a fan on the lips.

Danna really went all out for the LGBTQ+ community and gave the gays everything they wanted, all while proudly waving the rainbow flag.
