WATCH: Karol G & Nicki Minaj Reunite at ‘Barbie’ Premiere – Fans Freak Out
The highly anticipated premiere of the “Barbie” movie brought together many major celebrities to Los Angeles, CA, over the weekend (July 9). From the film’s stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling to America Ferrera and Dua Lipa, there was no shortage of star power and glamor on the pink carpet. But fans really lost their cool when Karol G and Nicki Minaj reunited inside the Shrine Auditorium.
In a now-viral clip shared by Minaj on Twitter, the rapper can be seen approaching Karol G inside the dark theater, playfully quoting her famous opening line of their hit song “Tusa,” “¿Qué pasó contigo? Dímelo,” while blowing kisses to the camera. This adorable reunion quickly caught the attention of fans of both women, who wasted no time weighing in on social media.
“Oh, Karolnika is back and alive,” wrote one fan with a crying emoji. Some are hoping for a “Tusa Pt. 2 like right now!” as another fan insisted on a follow-up to their massive hit. “Still not over how we never got a live performance of ‘Tusa’ with Nicki and Karol together,” wrote another social media user.
Minaj had previously revealed that Karol had asked the rapper to perform “Tusa” together on two previous occasions. However, the “Red Ruby Da Sleeze” rapper had to decline due to her unannounced pregnancy at the time.
Both artists appeared on the “Barbie” movie soundtrack, with Karol G’s “WATATI” and Minaj collaborating with Dominican rapper Ice Spice on “Barbie World,” which samples the iconic “Barbie Girl” by Aqua.
As Karol G gears up for her Mañana Sera Bonito stadium tour and Minaj prepares to release a new album in the fall, is it possible that the two women will finally find an opportunity to perform “Tusa” or even collaborate on a follow-up to the hit? We’ll be waiting with bated breath.
