WATCH: Daddy Yankee Teams Up With Myke Towers On ‘PASATIEMPO’
On July 28, the reggaeton pioneer Daddy Yankee dropped his newest music video for “PASATIEMPO.” The song features the Puerto Rican artist Myke Towers and is off his last album before retirement, LEGENDADDY.
“We are already out with the video of ‘PASATIEMPO’ together with @myketowers. Anthem!!! ??#legendaddy,” the global icon posted on his social media.
The Film Heads-produced music video starts as Myke Towers raps his verse in a black and white minimalistic setting. Once DY makes an appearance, he captivates the attention with his signature charisma, proving once again why he’s one of reggaeton’s most emblematic artists. The video follows couples dancing sensually, vibing, and even captures DY flirting at a house party in Puerto Rico. It also features cloning techniques and Kodak polaroid film-inspired post-production work that take the visual elements to another level.
Social media users are flocking to these last videos to thank the Big Boss for his legacy. Youtube user Damiän Thörn wrote, “Thank you for your music and talent Jefe. You are leaving but your legacy will always remain in the memory of those of us who listened to you from the beginning. You are and will be unique, there will never be another like you.”
Others still can’t believe he’s retiring from music. Youtube user Elizabeth Flores Tobon wrote, “You still have so much to give to the music world daddy I can’t believe you’re going to retire ? I think if you never retired you’d still be relevant forever.”
In addition to this video’s release, the “Gasolina” singer embarked on his La Última Vuelta Tour this week. Remezcla described the tour as “a trip down memory lane” and “a huge flex on having a career filled with hit after hit.” Tonight (July 29), he will perform his third out of five shows at L.A.’s Kia Forum.
