WATCH: Chicano Batman Performs ‘Fly’ on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’
Chicano Batman is breaking into the mainstream. Last night (Mar. 20), the Latine alternative group performed “Fly” live on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Chicano Batman is known for pushing the limits of Latine music while exploring genres across the diaspora. Throughout the band’s career, the guys have championed the message of freedom while being unafraid to get political with their music. Among Chicano Batman’s psychedelic classics are “Black Lipstick,” “Cycles of Existential Rhyme,” and “Passed You By.”
After a four-year break, Chicano Batman is set to return with a new album next week. To celebrate the LP’s upcoming release, the band appeared on Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show. Chicano Batman performed their funky single “Fly.” Lead singer Bardo Martinez’s voice soared like a bird as he belted the song’s feel-good lyrics. The group brought the otherworldly live experience of a Chicano Batman show to Kimmel’s global stage.
“Playing Kimmel was absolutely an LA bucket list accomplishment,” Chicano Batman exclusively shared with Remezcla via email. “We went up there to shine on behalf of our fans, families, and friends. That moment was as much as theirs as it was ours, and we wouldn’t have it any other way!”
“Fly” was helmed by Grammy-winning producer John Congleton, who also worked with the band on their next album. Chicano Batman’s Notebook Fantasy album will be released on Mar. 29. Last month, the guys released a second single from the LP called “Era Primavera.” The dreamy song was written and recorded fully in Spanish.
In honor of the upcoming Notebook Fantasy album, the band will embark on the 2024 Chicano Batman Tour next month. The U.S. leg of the tour kicks off at the Brooklyn Bowl in Las Vegas, NV, on Apr. 19. The tour also includes a stop at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, CA, on Jun. 29. Colombian-Canadian singer Lido Pimienta and Mexican-American group The Red Pears will serve as the opening act on select dates.
