With Alessandro Michele at its helm, Gucci shows are always a momenté – but the house’s latest outing, when it literally shut down a huge swathe of Hollywood Boulevard, really took the biscuit. Paying tribute to the golden era of the silver screen, the Italian designer sent stars including Miranda July, Macaulay Culkin, Steve Lacy, and loads, loads more down the runway, in looks that spanned slick 70s-style suiting, right through to show-stopping, crystal-dripping, feather-trimmed gowns.
In news that should come as a surprise to no one, the Love Parade collection in question has now got its own *extremely* extra campaign. Dropping exclusively on Dazed this morning (welcome to the week everyone, hopefully this will take the edge off Monday morning), the new images see Michele and co. throw a wild, debauched party, inviting more than a few familiar faces and friends of the house to join in the fun.
Those letting loose include Miley Cyrus, who, despite slipping into a glam satin dress and crystal-studded ears, manages to get caught up in a mosh pit, and ends up crowd-surfing across the dancefloor. Snoop Dogg, meanwhile, is having a slightly more sedate evening, sitting at a table in a lime green suit and chowing down on a piece of pink-iced cake – an antidote to the munchies? I mean… yeah, maybe. Booksmart’s Beanie Feldstein also scored an invite, and stands around looking v glam drinking champagne, while Jared Leto is classic Jared Leto, casting intense looks across the dancefloor and just having lovely, shiny hair (my money’s on Olaplex, in case you’re interested).
The whole thing was shot by Mert & Marcus, who are also behind the campaign’s accompanying Velvet Underground-soundtracked film. The only question is: why TF don’t we get invited to parties this glam? Alessandro, you know where we are for the next one – call us!
