Shakira & Grupo Frontera Tease Upcoming Collaboration

Shakira gave us a taste of her upcoming collaboration with Grupo Frontera. She teamed up with Grupo Frontera for her latest album tease during their performance at Bésame Mucho in Austin, TX (March 2). Their new collaboration, “(Entre Paréntesis)” is part of Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, dropping on March 22.

Fans present at Grupo Frontera’s headlining set at Las Clásicas stage were in for a surprise. The Colombian superstar virtually appeared on a video message during the group’s set to announce a preview of the duo’s upcoming collaboration. She said in Spanish: “Hola mi gente de Bésame Mucho, I leave you with my friends from Grupo Frontera and a preview of our next song “(Entre Paréntesis).” She wrapped up the message with a kiss to her fans.

Based on the preview, it sounds like “(Entre Paréntesis)” will be a kiss-off norteño cumbia. The unveiled lyrics feature Shak and the group’s vocalist Payo singing heartbreaking lyrics about noticing when someone loves you and when they don’t. Though the clip is less than a minute long, it also reveals Grupo Frontera shouting out Shakira as “La Loba” with her signature howl.

“The truth is that we are super excited,” Grupo Frontera said in an interview with Billboard. “We heard the song and got the opportunity to record with Shakira. We have been fans of hers since I can remember; she has always been the top, and it has been an honor to have collaborated with her.”

Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran is shaping up to be a diverse album. Besides this música mexicana collaboration with Grupo Frontera, she’s also featuring artists in other genres like Cardi B and two new features by Bizarrap and Rauw Alejandro.

During a recent Instagram Live, Cardi B expressed excitement after dancing to Shak’s “Rabiosa.” “Cut the motherf*cking music! That was a little something because we are honoring motherf*cking Shakira,” she said. “I have a song coming out with her on the 22nd. Y’all, I am so nervous! I can’t even breathe! I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe!”

Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran follows her last album El Dorado, released in 2017.
