Selena Gomez Posts Tribute to Francia Raisa Following Months of Drama — Here’s Her Response

Selena Gomez wished a happy 35th birthday to her fellow actress and friend Francia Raisa on Wednesday (July 26) – four days after her own birthday celebration.

Gomez’s 426 million Instagram followers got a glimpse of her and Raisa’s friendship over the years when she shared three photos of them hanging out together. “Happiest of birthdays to this special human being,” Gomez wrote. “No matter where life takes us, I love you.”

The photos included a shot of Gomez and Raisa drinking champagne while sitting in the back of a carriage and traveling the countryside. Another featured Gomez hugging Raisa from behind like they were posing for prom pictures.

In 2017, Raisa donated one of her kidneys to Gomez who was going through some life-threatening health issues brought on by lupus. “There aren’t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa,” Gomez wrote at the time. “She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis.”

Since then, there has been major speculation that Gomez and Raisa have experienced a falling out in their friendship. It started in November 2022 when Gomez told Rolling Stone magazine that her “only friend in the industry” was Taylor Swift. Raisa reportedly responded to Gomez’s quote on social media with the word “interesting,” but later deleted it. Gomez wrote on TikTok, “Sorry I didn’t mention every person I know.”

That same month, Gomez’s documentary, My Mind & Me, was released. Many viewers found it peculiar that the film didn’t mention Raisa once. Raisa reportedly unfollowed Gomez on Instagram soon after their fallout and said she experienced some “pretty bad” bullying because of it.

We can only assume that it was the birthday post, but Francia Raisa just started following Selena Gomez again on Instagram. She also liked the post. Here’s hoping they spend next year’s birthdays together.
