One of Summer’s Most Controversial Shoes Is Back

Is that the faint sound of click-clacking I hear? Why yes, it is: Flip-flop heels are back on the streets! At least, they are on Kendall Jenner. This weekend, the model was spotted taking in the L.A. Lakers x Phoenix Suns game in California wearing a pair of black flip-flop heels—with a square toe, to really drive home the ’90s statement. 

The polarizing shoe first had a moment back then, and then enjoyed a major comeback during the summer of 2019. Everyone from Kim Kardashian West to Katie Holmes wore them that season. You simply couldn’t escape them! And now, despite having a moment’s rest, Jenner is reviving the thong stiletto once again, whether you like it or not. (Public opinions remain divided.)

Even if you’re not a fan of the shoe, you can’t deny that Jenner styled them in a chic way. The footwear is decidedly minimal, and Jenner kept the fit just as clean and unfussy with a cropped, patchwork tank and high-waisted leather pants.
