A plane carrying superstar Karol G made an emergency landing in Los Angeles late on Thursday. According to KABC-TV, who first reported the news, there were no injuries.

Videos from ABC News show the singer coming off the plane after landing and shaking the hands of some people, including seemingly the pilot, and hugging family and friends in relief. 

The private plane was carrying 16 people, including the singer, and had taken off from Hollywood Burbank Airport heading east. There’s no confirmation of where the plane was heading, but the singer’s next concert is set to be in Guatemala City after a Guadalajara concert in Mexico. After reports of smoke from the cockpit, the plane turned around and landed in Van Nuys Airport. The cause of the malfunction has not yet been reported.

Karol G is currently on tour, with her last stop being Mexico, where she played for seven nights. On Valentine’s Day, she released her music video for her new song “Contigo” featuring Tiësto and a surprise appearance from Young Miko.

She was recently named Billboard magazine’s 2024 Woman of the Year. She will be honored at the Billboard Women in Music Awards on March 6th. She also recently won her first Grammy and became the first female artist to win the Best Música Urbana Album.
