Grag Queen Set to Host Debut Season of ‘Drag Race Brazil’ — Here’s What We Know
The host for Drag Race Brazil has been revealed with Brazilian drag superstar Grag Queen leading the next Latine spin-off of RuPaul’s Drag Race.
Grag Queen may be familiar to RuPaul’s Drag Race fans from another drag competition that she competed in. In 2021, she became the first person to win Queen of the Universe, a drag queen singing competition that was also produced by World of Wonder. Grag Queen hails from Canela, a city in the Serra Gaúcha mountains, in Rio Grande do Sul. Now she will be searching for “Brazil’s Next Drag Superstar” on Drag Race Brazil.
Grag Queen made the announcement in an Instagram post.
“THAT’S WHAT IT IS!!! The Queen of the Universe hosts the first Drag Race Brazil in HISTORY!,” she wrote in Portuguese. “Ready for an e-x-c-i-t-i-n-g race for the crown? I am.”
Over on social media, many Drag Race fans express their excitement about Grag Queen’s big news. “ITS OFFICIAL GRAG IS HOST OF DRAG RACE BRASIL!!! We won, @gragqueen congratulations,” wrote one person on Twitter.
“Our day being blessed with this official announcement of @gragqueen as host of @DragRaceBr more amazing things are coming,” wrote another person in Portuguese.
The premiere date for Drag Race Brazil will be announced soon. And the show will stream on Wow Presents Plus globally and in the U.S. with the first season airing on MTV and Paramount+ in Latin America.
Back in December 2022, the first Latine spin-offs of RuPaul’s Drag Race were confirmed with Drag Race México and Drag Race Brazil. Valentina and Lolita Banana are currently hosting the first season of the Mexican franchise. And Grag Queen will be following in their footsteps for Brazil’s version of the show. Drag Race Germany and a Global All Stars spin-off will also be coming soon.
