EXCLUSIVE: Nicki Nicole Announces First-Ever U.S. Tour & Talks About New Cumbia

Nicki Nicole is finally touring the U.S.! On Apr. 18, the Argentinean artist revealed her first-ever seven-city tour, exclusively via Remezcla. The highly-anticipated tour will kick off at Irving Plaza in New York, NY, on Sept. 22 and wrap up at The Belasco in Los Angeles, CA, on Oct. 4. In a conversation with her, she also opened up about her upcoming cumbia “Ojos Verdes,” out on May 24.

“This news fills me with emotion. ALMA has been touring many countries, and now, for the first time, it is coming to the USA,” Nicki Nicole says via e-mail. “Being able to take an album as personal as ALMA to seven cities and connect with them means a lot to me. Thank you for always being there.” 

After starting her tour in New York, the “DISPARA ***” singer will continue to the House of Blues in Houston, TX (Sept. 25); the House of Blues in Dallas, TX (Sept. 26); and The Fillmore Miami Beach in Miami, FL (Sept. 28). The second half of the selective shows includes the Cermak Hall in Chicago, IL (Oct. 1); the House of Blues in San Diego, CA (Oct. 3); and The Belasco in Los Angeles, CA (Oct. 4).

Besides the tour announcement, Nicki also gave Remezcla a glimpse at her newest single, an accordion-fronted kiss-off song inspired by a personal experience. “‘Ojos Verdes’ is a very personal song, where I was able to channel a not-so-positive situation I lived through music,” she shares. “I always try to express my emotions in my songs, no matter what my state of mind is.”

She continues: “In this particular song such as ‘Ojos Verdes,’ I went for the happy and fun side of a cumbia to express something not so positive and happy that I lived [and hopefully] people can dance to it and enjoy it.”
