Daddy Yankee Took Care of Fans When Fire Broke Out During Concert

The roof was literally on fire at one of Daddy Yankee’s recent concerts in Argentina. The Puerto Rican icon paused the show to make sure his fans and the venue’s staff were safe during the incident.

Daddy Yankee is currently on his La Última Vuelta World Tour, supporting his last album, Legendaddy. The tour visited the U.S. throughout the summer, and D.Y. is now making his way through Latin America. He was performing to a massive crowd at Buenos Aires’ Estadio José Amalfitani on Oct. 2 when the incident with the fire happened

Flames have been very much a part of Daddy Yankee’s set during La Última Vuelta World Tour. When the fire appeared at the top of the stage, he paused the concert to make sure everyone in the venue was safe.

“Watch out, there’s fire up there,” Daddy Yankee told the crowd in Spanish. “Thanks to my people for the warning. Be careful there in front my people. The safety of you guys first. Maestro, is this going to be resolved? Applause for the people who are resolving this.”

Instead of getting rushed off the stage, Daddy Yankee stayed at the center of the stage when the incident happened and watched over his fans in the audience. When one of the venue’s staff tried to put out the flame without the right equipment, Daddy Yankee told that person to be careful. “Hermanito, please, ensure your safety. Bro, come down. Never put your life at risk like that again.”

After the fire was put out, Daddy Yankee was able to continue the concert. Before restarting the show, he thanked the crowd for their patience. “The most important thing is that you guys are safe and have a good time,” he said. “Here, we’re the responsible ones.”

The next stop of La Última Vuelta World Tour is tonight in Ecuador. Daddy Yankee is up for two Latin Grammy Awards this year, including Song of the Year for “Agua” featuring Rauw Alejandro.
