Could a Shakira & Bad Bunny Collaboration Be in the Works?
It’s been an eventful year for Shakira, to say the least. But now the global superstar has her sights set on creating an even bigger splash by collaborating with none other than Bad Bunny.
After dropping the headline heavy visual for “Monotonía” featuring Ozuna, many content creators flocked to YouTube to share their reactions to Shakira’s new video. YouTuber JaviFerrariTV began his reaction video by commending the Colombian singer for working with “actual artists” such as Ozuna and Rauw Alejandro. “Shakira, call Bad Bunny. The only one you’re missing is Bad Bunny,” he said in his intro. “Can you imagine? Shakira with Bad Bunny would break the internet.”
In an unexpected move, Shakira herself replied to Ferrari writing, “I’m waiting for Bunny to call me, yes. How did you know?” Not long after the comment began to make its rounds, fans quickly weighed in on social media.
“Shakira and Bad Bunny?!” wrote one Twitter user. “Oh, I smell a HIT.”
“Shakira x Benito will destroy the charts,” wrote another fan, predicting an inevitable rise to the top once the track is released.
A collaboration between the two Latine giants isn’t as random as it might seem to some. The pair last performed together at the 2020 Super Bowl Halftime Show when they sang a medley of hits, including “I Like It,” “Chantaje,” and “Calladita.”
Shakira’s music video for “Monotonía” recently broke the record for most views on a Latine video during the first 24 hours of release. The clip generated nearly 20 million views on YouTube, surpassing a record set by Benito himself when “Moscow Mule” racked up 15 million views upon release.
As Bad Bunny’s record-breaking “World Hottest Tour” moves through Latin America, we hope he’ll find time in his busy schedule to give Shakira a call and give the fans everything they want. Until then, we’ll be waiting with bated breath.
