Coldplay Covers J Balvin & Bad Bunny & Shares Stage With Manuel Turizo in Bogota

Coldplay continues to show its appreciation for local-based talent during its Music Of The Spheres World Tour. During the weekend, the British rock band played two shows at the El Campín stadium in Bogotá, Colombia, where they showed their appreciation for the country’s music in two different ways. On Friday (Sept. 16), they covered J Balvin and Bad Bunny’s “La Canción.” The following day (Sept. 17), the band shared the stage with the emerging Colombian artist Manuel Turizo.

Coldplay’s tributes never cease to amaze their fans. Social media users were quick to post about the surprising reimagined cover of J Balvin’s 2019 hit with Bad Bunny. A Twitter user wrote: “I never thought I’d see Coldplay play Bad Bunny and J Balvin’s ‘La Canción.’”

Another Twitter user wrote: “Coldplay and Chris Martin covering Bad Bunny & Balvin’s ‘la canción’ in Bogotá. Random stuff that we will NEVER get over.”

The surprises didn’t stop there, though. The emblematic band invited Turizo on the second date to sing his top-charting song “La Bachata” in front of 55,000 fans. Together, they sang a piano-driven version of the song before a sold-out concert.

“It was an honor for me to play with Coldplay on their last night in Bogota, Colombia, from their world tour,” Turizo said in a press statement. “I can’t believe Coldplay performed ‘La Bachata’ with me. I would have never thought this would happen and I feel like I am still in a dream by knowing that Coldplay created history with me for our fans. Never stop dreaming.”

Social media users were equally thrilled about this live duet. “One of the top moments of the concert was that Manuel Turizo came up to sing La Bachata with Chris Martin on the piano,” a social media user wrote. “Coldplay definitely never disappoints you.”

Moreover, stars like Camila Cabello (who opened the show) and Dua Lipa were also part of the crowd on the second night. The two were spotted enjoying what appeared to be an epic night. What tributes do Coldplay have in store for us on their next tour stop (Sept. 20 to Sept. 24) in Santiago, Chile? We can’t wait to see!
