Christina Aguilera Is One of Billboard’s First NFT Magazine Cover Stars

She’s a cover girl! Christina Aguilera will be featured on Billboard’s first-ever NFT magazine covers. In collaboration with World of Women (WoW) to commemorate the 2022 Billboard Women in Music event and summit, the publication will create three NFT artworks featuring three of the most iconic female performers in music history: Xtina, Madonna, and Mariah Carey.

World of Women is an artwork collection of 10,000 unique “1-of-1” women “celebrating representation, inclusivity, and equal opportunities for all,” according to the press release. For the Billboard covers, the organization’s founder Yam Karakai will create the artwork, which will be auctioned on the FTX US NFT marketplace. The profits from the sales will be donated to different charities chosen by the three cover stars. Aguilera will donate the profits to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Madonna’s profits are going to City of Joy, a leadership community in the Democratic Republic of Congo helping female victims of violence in the area. Lastly, Carey will use the funds to partner Camp Mariah with the Fresh Air Fund to provide summer camp opportunities for low-income children in New York.

Moreover, the three World of Women NFT holders will also have a chance to receive an all-expenses-paid trip to attend next year’s Women in Music ceremony in Los Angeles, walk the red carpet, and meet Karkai.

The president of Billboard, Julian Holguin, shared her excitement for the collaboration via a press release: “The cultural significance of this partnership aligns perfectly with our commitment of championing women who are breaking down barriers and shaping culture within music and beyond. World of Women’s shared love of music and mission of creating a diverse and inclusive space for artists made them fantastic collaborators to bring this unique project to life.”

Karkai shares that collaborating with Billboard on this project is “an absolute honor and dream-come-true to participate in such a landmark moment with an incredibly inspirational, diverse, and influential group of women… There is no better platform to help our community grow and our voices be heard. I cannot wait to be a part of such an influential and motivational collection of female leaders and am thrilled that Billboard is also enabling our community to play a special role.”

Launched on July 27, 2021, World of Women’s artwork is sold on the Ethereum blockchain. To date, it has generated over $200 million in trading. Celebrities like Reese Witherspoon, Shonda Rhimes, and Eva Longoria have supported the company.
