Belinda Joins Forces with Rising Mexican Talent to Mark 5 Years of Corridos Tumbados

Belinda is embracing the rise of corridos tumbados in a big way, celebrating the subgenre’s fifth anniversary with a new collaboration. On October 9, the Spanish-Mexican singer teamed up with rising Mexican stars Neton Vega and Kevin AMF for their new track, “Ni Fiestas Ni Flores.” This collaboration highlights Belinda’s ongoing involvement in the evolving corridos tumbados movement.

The genre of corridos tumbados gained momentum five years ago, spearheaded by artists like Natanael Cano, Junior H, Fuerza Regida, and Adriel Favela. Despite initial resistance from traditionalists in the música mexicana scene, Cano and his peers persisted. In a 2019 interview with Remezcla, Cano acknowledged the backlash but remained optimistic about the genre’s future: “A lot of people were saying that we’re going to ruin music, but on the contrary, people are looking up our stuff, and new things are coming from it.”

Belinda, who initially made her mark in the Latin pop world, has recently leaned into corridos tumbados, releasing songs like “Cactus” and “300 Noches,” the latter featuring Natanael Cano. Now, with “Ni Fiestas Ni Flores,” she is continuing to explore the genre, collaborating with two rising stars who represent its future. The track is part of Spotify’s campaign to commemorate the fifth anniversary of corridos tumbados.

In a behind-the-scenes video, Belinda reflected on the significance of this collaboration. “With this Spotify single, we’re celebrating five years of corridos tumbados,” she said. “We’re building the future of this genre that is making history around the world.” Her participation in this milestone shows her commitment to the movement and her interest in shaping its evolution.

Neton Vega, one of Belinda’s collaborators on the track, is a songwriter from Baja California, known for co-writing Peso Pluma’s hits “Rubicon” and “La People.” Recently, he has featured on tracks like “La Patrulla” with Peso Pluma and “Linda” with Tito Doble P. Kevin AMF, on the other hand, has made a name for himself through viral hits on TikTok, including “Dembow Freson” and “Rich Kid.” Together, with Belinda, the trio delivers an emotional corrido that touches on themes of heartbreak and moving on from past relationships.

“Ni Fiestas Ni Flores” marks Belinda’s second release this week. She dropped “Bugatti,” a return to her Latine pop roots, just a few days earlier. The song reflects her dynamic “Beli-bélica” era, where she balances different genres and musical styles. Later this month, she’s set to release another highly anticipated track, a collaboration with fellow Mexican artist Kenia Os.

As Belinda continues to explore new musical directions, her role in corridos tumbados demonstrates her versatility and adaptability as an artist, while also honoring a genre that has become a powerful force in Mexican music.
