Becky G, Karol G & More Win Big at the 2023 Latin American Music Awards
The Latin American Music Awards (Latin AMAS) happened last night (April 20). The award show took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV. Hosted by Natti Natasha, Julian Gil, and Galilea Montijo, the ceremony delivered exciting performances and awards to some of the most popular Latine talents of today. Who took home the most awards this year? None other than Karol G.
Though she wasn’t present, Karol G had the most wins out of everyone this year. The Colombian star won eight out of her eight nominations–including Artist of the Year, Song of the Year for “MAMIII” with Becky G, and Collaboration of the Year also for “MAMIII.” And speaking about Becky G, besides the two awards mentioned above, she also took home the awards for Best Collaboration – Regional Mexican for “Ya Acabó” with Marca MP and Best Collaboration – Pop/Urban for “MAMIII.”
Clearly, “MAMIII” was a huge night for the two Latinas. “I am so proud, Karol and I have won so many awards with ‘MAMIII,’ but I tell you that each one means something bigger than us, which is feminine power—women power always—together we are more,” Becky G said as she accepted their award for Song of the Year.
Other winners include Bad Bunny, who won three awards including Album of the Year for Un Verano Sin Ti, and Shakira took home two, including Best Artist – Pop. Shakira’s recent collaborator Bizarrap also won for New Artist of the Year.
More exciting winners of last night’s award show also include Grupo Frontera, who won Best Song – Regional Mexican for “No se va (En vivo)”. Grupo Firme who won Best Duo or Group – Regional Mexican, and Junior H who won two awards, including Best Artist – Regional Mexican.
