Becky G Embraces Duality on New Album ‘Baraja Bendita’

Becky G has officially released her fifth studio album, Baraja Bendita, via RCA Records. The 17-track project serves as a profound exploration of the artist’s identity, bridging the gap between her professional persona and her personal life as Rebbeca.

In a statement regarding the release, the Mexican-American singer explained the significance of the album’s title, which translates to a “blessed deck of cards.” She noted, “It’s about trusting myself enough to stop choosing between different parts of who I am. For so long, people wanted to define me by one thing: one language, one sound, one version of myself. This album isn’t about becoming someone new. It’s about fully owning every part of who I’ve always been.”

Following her previous projects Esquinas (2023) and Encuentros (2024), which leaned heavily into música mexicana, Baraja Bendita showcases a broader sonic palette. The album features a seamless fusion of genres, ranging from the kizomba and R&B influences of “Chula” to the bachata rhythms of “Te va a doler,” the merengue energy of “Mal Tiempo,” and the reggae-infused “Bandera Blanca.” The artist also incorporates her signature reggaetón sound alongside club-ready tracks rooted in house and deep bass.

Written entirely by the artist without any guest features, the album allows for a raw, unfiltered look at her confidence and vulnerability. Baraja Bendita follows a successful string of releases, including Mala Santa (2019) and Esquemas (2022), continuing her trajectory as a dominant force in the industry.
