Becky G and Tokischa Join Cast of Gina Rodriguez’s ‘House of Guerrero’

Becky G and Tokischa are officially joining the cast of the upcoming film House of Guerrero, Billboard can exclusively announce. The project marks the feature directorial debut of actress Gina Rodriguez and is being produced by Wayfarer Studios, 1Community, and I Can And I Will Productions.

Currently in production across Los Angeles and California’s Imperial Valley, the film centers on the rich history and enduring culture of Latino boxing. Becky G is set to star as Maya Alvarado, the on-again, off-again love interest of the protagonist, Alex Guerrero, played by Carlos Sanson Jr. Meanwhile, Tokischa will make her acting debut as Xochitl Romero, Maya’s fiercely protective best friend.

“I have loved Becky and Tokischa for so long, as artists and as women who have never once asked for permission to be exactly who they are,” Rodriguez said in a statement regarding the casting. “From the very first moment I saw them together, I knew — Maya and Xochitl had found their home. They are a dazzling pair, and watching them light up this set has been incredibly thrilling as a first-time director. I couldn’t have asked for better humans. I’m so proud to have them fighting alongside us.”

While House of Guerrero serves as Tokischa’s first foray into film, Becky G is no stranger to the screen, having previously appeared in projects such as Power Rangers (2017) and Blue Beetle (2023). The two artists join a robust ensemble cast that includes Carlos Sanson Jr., Gina Rodriguez as Paloma Guerrero, George Lopez as Alejandro Guerrero, and Rosario Dawson as Elsa Guerrero.

Fans can look forward to hearing more about the project soon, as Carlos Sanson Jr. and Tokischa are scheduled to discuss the film during the “Film and Music” panel at the 2026 #LatinMusic Week, taking place Oct. 19–22 at the Faena Forum in Miami Beach.
