Cristian Castro to Receive Billboard Lifetime Achievement Award
Mexican pop icon Cristian Castro will be honored with the Billboard Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2026 Billboard Latin Music Awards, as announced by Billboard and Telemundo. This prestigious accolade recognizes Castro for an exceptional career spanning over three decades and his profound, enduring influence on the global Latin music landscape.
The celebration will culminate in a special performance by the artist during the ceremony, which is scheduled to air live on Thursday, Oct. 22, at 8 p.m. ET on Telemundo and Peacock, broadcasting directly from the James L. Knight Center in Miami.
A Legacy of Romantic Pop
Reflecting on the honor, Castro expressed deep gratitude for the recognition of his life’s work. “Receiving the Billboard Lifetime Achievement Award is a tremendous honor and a very special moment in my career,” he stated. “Music has given me the privilege of connecting with audiences for more than three decades, and knowing that these songs have become part of people’s lives means more to me than I can express.”
Castro’s journey on the charts began in 1992 with his breakout hit “No Podrás,” which climbed to No. 3 on the Hot Latin Songs chart. His debut album, Agua Nueva, solidified his status as a rising star, reaching No. 2 on the Top Latin Pop Albums chart in 1993. Over the years, he has secured six No. 1 hits on the Hot Latin Songs chart, including fan favorites like “Nunca Voy a Olvidarte,” “Amor,” and the iconic “Azul.”
