Marvic Trejo: The Rising Voice of Urban Bachata

The Artist and Their Approach

Marvic Trejo, known artistically as Marvic Adelphe Trejo Pérez, is emerging as a distinct voice in the Latin music scene, specifically within the bachata genre. Based in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, Trejo’s artistic identity is deeply rooted in a lifelong passion for traditional music. His journey began in the Bronx, New York, where at age six, he first connected with the sounds of bachatero Bienvenido Rodríguez. This early influence laid the foundation for a career dedicated to preserving the essence of the genre while developing a contemporary sound.

Before adopting the moniker “El Cuarto Bate,” a name bestowed upon him in 2012 by Sergio Romero Concepción, Trejo operated as DJ Marvic. In this capacity, he used social media to share recordings of legendary merengue típico and bachata artists, helping to bridge the generational gap for new listeners. Today, his work continues to reflect this commitment to musical heritage, blending admiration for the past with a modern approach to the genre.

The Latest Release

Trejo’s recent work includes the single “Hoy Brindo Por El Amor,” which was released on July 17, 2026. This project represents a significant milestone for the artist, as it was accompanied by his first-ever music video, released on September 4, 2026. The track serves as a testament to his ongoing development as an artist who values the narratives and emotions central to bachata. When discussing the inspiration behind his music, Trejo shared, “Tu eres como los rayos del sol. Que con si calor, le dan vida, a las flores de mi jardín.”

A Growing Body of Work

Beyond his latest single, Trejo has been active in refining his repertoire. In 2026, he presented a new version of the track “Xiomara,” recorded at Meléndez Studio in Guerra, Santo Domingo. This follows his 2019 release, “La Chancletera,” which was recorded at JS Studio in Santiago de los Caballeros. That recording featured a full ensemble, including Eduardo Carela on second guitar, Ambiory Padilla on bongos, Tony Güira on güira, Juan Rodríguez on bass, and Mikey Touch on requinto.
