Inside the Success of Óscar Maydon’s Chart-Topping Hit ‘Tu Boda’ Featuring Fuerza Regida

Óscar Maydon’s latest single, “Tu Boda,” featuring Fuerza Regida, has quickly become a defining hit, taking the No. 1 spot on the Hot Latin Songs chart. Originally intended as a solo track, “Tu Boda” came to life through an unexpected turn during Maydon’s creative process. While listening to an early version of the song—a Gothic sierreño ballad written by Alexis “Chachito” Armando Fierro Roman—Maydon had a sudden epiphany.

Recalling the moment in an interview with Billboard Español, Óscar Maydon shared how the voice of Jesús Ortiz Paz, known as JOP from Fuerza Regida, popped into his mind. He envisioned how JOP’s unique style would complement the track. Inspired by this idea, Maydon reached out to Ortiz Paz, proposing a collaboration that would ultimately transform the song’s trajectory.

Initially, Ortiz Paz had reservations, uncertain if “Tu Boda” was a fit for Fuerza Regida’s sound. But after some discussion, he decided to trust Maydon’s vision. “I’m going to trust you,” Ortiz Paz eventually agreed, setting the stage for a collaboration that almost didn’t happen. This marked their second project together, following the success of their previous track, “Antídoto.” Despite some initial doubts about how their voices blended, the duo’s trust in each other and the song’s potential carried it forward.

The release of “Tu Boda” brought both Maydon and Fuerza Regida new milestones on the Billboard charts. The song not only reached No. 1 on Hot Latin Songs but also topped the Latin Streaming Songs chart, giving Maydon his first chart-topping achievement in that category and delivering Fuerza Regida its second. The song’s popularity extended further, hitting No. 1 on Latin Digital Song Sales and debuting impressively at No. 23 on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100, a remarkable feat for a Spanish-language track.

The song’s momentum continued as Maydon and Fuerza Regida performed “Tu Boda” live for the first time at the Don’t Fall In Love Festival at San Bernardino’s NOS Event Center on November 2. The performance drew a crowd of over 20,000 fans, marking a triumphant live debut for the chart-topping single.

Reflecting on the song’s success, Maydon attributes much of it to his decision to bring Fuerza Regida into the project. His spontaneous idea to collaborate with Ortiz Paz gave “Tu Boda” an edge, blending Maydon’s style with Fuerza Regida’s signature sound. This synergy resonated with audiences and propelled the track to the top of multiple charts.

The journey of “Tu Boda” showcases how a single moment of inspiration can transform a project’s course. With this collaboration, Maydon has solidified his position in Latin music, and the track’s success underscores the power of creative intuition and partnership.
