WATCH: Carin León Brings Out Molotov to Perform These Classics at Coachella

Carin León doesn’t stay in one genre. On Apr. 21, the Mexican singer-songwriter teamed up with OG rockeros Molotov for special renditions of their most popular songs during his second performance at Coachella. Coachella’s weekend two took place at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, CA, from Apr. 19 to 21.

Last weekend (Apr. 14), León shared the stage with Venezuelan stars Mau y Ricky to sing their collaboration “Llorar y Llorar.” For the second weekend, he went more into the rock en español realm by inviting one of Mexico’s most popular bands to join him on stage. He introduced the band as “legends” and the “last rockstars left” in Mexico. 

To get into the vibe, the música mexicana star switched out his tejana for a snapback cap. The two acts then began singing “Frijolero” to start their mini-set. Originally released in 2003, the song blends rap, música mexicana, and rock en español. That wasn’t all León sang with Molotov. The artists also sang “Voto Latino” (1997) and “P*to” (1997), which are also two of the rock band’s most popular songs to date. 

“What a chingon moment we lived today 🇲🇽,” León wrote on his Instagram. “Thanks @molotovbanda much respect and admiration cabrones!” Molotov echoed the same sentiment by posting: “Thank you very much for the invitation carnal @carinleonoficial 🙏😎. Viva Mexico cabrones! 🇲🇽 @coachella.” 

Moreover, León also stunned his audience with a cover of “Tennessee Whiskey,” originally by Chris Stapleton. Both Molotov’s appearance and the Stapleton cover were not part of his first performance at the desert.

Up next, the “Que Vuelvas” singer will perform on Stagecoach’s first day (Apr. 26) alongside Mexican-American country singer Wyatt Flores. Other talent performing throughout the three-day festival includes Post Malone, Miranda Lambert, and Morgan Wallen. Elle King, Leon Bridges, and The Beach Boys are also part of the lineup.
