WATCH: Shakira Joins Bizarrap During Coachella Set, She Announces World Tour
Bizarrap and Shakira is the duo we didn’t know we needed. On Apr. 12, the Argentinean producer brought out the Colombian superstar as a surprise guest during his Coachella set to not only perform their two collaborations but to officially announce her world tour.
Shakira took the stage with the words “LA LOBA SE VIENE” as the backdrop. She was dressed in a fiery-colored, crochet-like dress. The two artists performed their newest collaboration “La Fuerte” from her newest album Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran. It was followed by the official announcement of her world tour, which she shared will start in Nov., in Coachella. Then, she wrapped up her surprise set with their record-breaking “Shakira: BZRP Music Sessions #53.”
Bizarrap’s highly-anticipated set featured his hits and remixes of throwback songs like “Nathy Peluso: Bzrp Music Sessions #36,” “L-Gante: Bzrp Music Sessions #38,” and “Ptazeta: Bzrp Music Sessions #45.” Other songs featured during his set included “Milo J: Bzrp Music Sessions #57,” the long-awaited “Villano Antillano: Bzrp Music Sessions #51,” and an EDM remix of his collaboration with Residente. He closed his set with a heartfelt speech followed by his breakthrough hit “Quevedo: Bzrp Music Sessions #52,” wearing an Argentinean flag around his neck.
Shakira was one of the top surprise guests we wanted to see in the desert. Eagle-eyed fans started to speculate Shak’s presence yesterday (Apr. 11) when they heard Biza soundcheck the track. Earlier today (Apr. 12), fans pointed out the resemblance between the producer’s stage layout and the “TQG” singer’s stage layout from her previous Times Square performance in New York City (Mar. 26), making fans more excited about the performance.
And it didn’t take long for the rumors to be confirmed. This afternoon, Biza confirmed her appearance via his Instagram story. The post featured a black-and-white photo of the two artists during their soundcheck. He wrote: “Sound check @shakira 19:45.”
Shakira’s presence at Coachella is a huge win for Latines. Earlier this year, it was rumored that the Colombian icon was turned down as a headliner. Fans were upset at the alleged news. Though she wasn’t part of the official lineup, she clarified that her music has a place in the desert, whether she was really turned down or not.
Both artists have performed their popular joint track together on other previous occasions. The first time was during The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last March.
