Hunter Schafer Clarifies Dating Rumors with Rosalía – Here’s What She Said

The internet can collectively scream they were right with this one – Rosalía was in a queer relationship before her engagement. Today (April 2), actress Hunter Schafer confirmed she once dated the Spanish pop star. 

Rosalía’s most famous relationship is the one she shared with Puerto Rican singer Rauw Alejandro. In Sep. 2021, the music power couple revealed they were an item. After releasing their joint EP and disclosing their engagement, Rosalía and Rauw announced they had broken up in July 2023. Now, the rumors about the Motomami dating the Euphoria actress have been publicly addressed. 

Schafer is a trans actress known for appearing in Euphoria and Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. In an interview with GQ, Schafer opened up about dating Rosalía for five months in 2019. She added that she talked it over with the hit-maker about letting this private matter out into the open. Even though Schafer and Rosalía later broke up, they have remained close friends.

“I have really beautiful friendships with people I was once romantically involved with,” Schafer said. “[Rosalía] is family no matter what.”

It’s important to note that Rosalía has yet to speak on the topic herself or put a label on her sexuality. Music journalist Suzy Exposito shared her 2022 Los Angeles Times interview with Rosalía where she hinted being part of the LGBTQ+ community. The topic came up when Rosalía was asked about working with queer artists like Arca, Rita Indiana, and Tokischa.

“I feel that I’m part of the community,” Rosalía said. “The majority of my friends, the people closest to me, are all part of the community. It makes all the sense in the world to me because it’s just my life.”

Late last year, Rosalía was reportedly dating The Bear star Jeremy Allen White. In her recent Instagram posts, she appears to be working on new music.
