Sammy Virji Revisits UKG Roots With Club Weapon “Moonlight”
There’s a reason we named Sammy Virji to our list of artists to watch for in 2024. Not only are the UK DJ’s high-octane sets exhilarating to watch, but he puts out nothing but bangers. His latest single “Moonlight” shows exactly why his shows sell out immediately.
Although Virji has recently been leaning into heavier bass on tunes like his collaboration with Flowdan “Shella Verse,” “Moonlight” marks a return to the clean UKG sound that he honed his craft with. At almost six minutes, this track takes us on a sonic journey, with each verse smoothly unwinding to reveal a new element.
His production is rooted in the twinkly vocal chop that he opens the track with, before playing around with cool synth to key changes. All the while, that irresistible syncopated two-step drum beat keeps our feet tapping.
We can’t wait to see what else Virji cooks up this year, but in the meantime, we’ll be streaming “Moonlight” on repeat. Make sure to give it a listen below. Enjoy!
