LISTEN: Yahritza y Su Esencia Join Yuridia & Ángela Aguilar in ‘Qué Agonía’ Remix
Yahritza y Su Esencia has put their own stamp on a hit collaboration by Yuridia and Ángela Aguilar. Last night (June 22), the Mexican-American band released a sierreño version of the song “Qué Agonía” featuring both singers.
“Qué Agonía” is one of the singles from Yuridia’s Pa’ Luego Es Tarde album, released last October. The LP marked the first time Yuridia embraced the regional Mexican music genre. On “Qué Agonía,” she teamed up with Ángela Aguilar, the daughter of Pepe Aguilar. Their duet became a hit, reaching No. 17 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart this week. The music video has amassed over 388 million views.
Now Yahritza y Su Esencia is joining Yuridia and Aguilar on the regional Mexican music hit. Yahritza Martínez’s band makes “Qué Agonía” even more heart-wrenching in the sierreño remix. With a voice beyond her years, Yahritza holds her own against the powerhouse vocals of Yuridia and Aguilar. The three women commiserate over being haunted by the memories of an ex who they still have feelings for.
Yahritza y Su Esencia first teased their remix of “Qué Agonía” on Valentine’s Day. After Yahritza posted a short video of herself covering the song in a recording booth, it took a few months for it to finally drop. The group seemed to shift their focus to their collaboration “Frágil,” featuring Tejano band Grupo Frontera. The song has become another one of Yahritza y Su Esencia’s biggest hits. “Frágil” has so far peaked at No. 11 on the Hot Latin Songs chart.
This fall, Yahritza y Su Esencia will perform in concerts across the west coast on the Obsessed Tour. The tour is named after the group’s debut EP of the same name, which included their breakthrough song “Soy El Único.” Aguilar is currently touring the U.S. with her Piensa En Mi trek.
