Aubrey Plaza Returning for ‘Scott Pilgrim vs. the World’ Netflix Anime — & She’s Not Alone
Aubrey Plaza (The White Lotus) is reuniting with the entire original cast of the 2010 film Scott Pilgrim vs. the World for a Netflix anime series about the cult classic. The film’s director, Edgar Wright, posted the announcement on Twitter.
Netflix officially announced the series will also feature all of the original, star-studded cast. This includes Plaza, Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Chris Evans, Satya Bhabha, Brie Larson, Anna Kendrick, Kieran Culkin, Allison Pill, Mark Webbers, Kim Pine, Brandon Routh, Mae Whitman, and Jason Schwartzman.
The movie, starring Cera, was about a musician in a garage band trying to win a competition for a record deal while also fighting the evil exes of his current girlfriend. It was an adaption of the Scott Pilgrim graphic novel series by Bryan Lee O’Malley. Per Deadline, O’Malley expressed his excitement.
“We’re getting the band back together! A stellar cast, perfectly assembled by Edgar Wright. And, with Science SARU leading the phenomenal animation, we couldn’t ask for a better team for this adventure. We can’t wait for fans and newcomers alike to see what we and our partners at Science SARU have been cooking up. It’s going to be a wild ride.”
Plaza played Julie Powers, the ex-girlfriend of Mark Webber’s character, Stephen Stills. Powers had the ability to censor herself and generally disapproved of Pilgrim’s advances toward the film’s love interest, Ramona, played Mary Elizabeth Winstead.
Since the announcement, social media has been ablaze with excitement from fans, who seem to all genuinely look forward to the new content that is being overseen by the original writer.
Plenty were here for Plaza’s iconic character making a return as well.
And one person even unearthed a photo from 2010 of Aubrey Plaza and Michael Cera at a Chuck E. Cheese because history.
