Grupo Firme, Sebastián Yatra, Karol G & More Sweep Premio Lo Nuestro 2023

Premio Lo Nuestro’s 35th edition took place last night (Feb. 23) at the Miami-Dade Arena in Miami, FL. The A-list hosts for this year’s extravagant ceremony were Paulina Rubio, Sebastián Yatra, Alejandra Espinoza, and Adrián Uribe. Throughout the three-hour show, many established and emerging artists performed, as well as received awards for their notable work across genres in the Latine music industry.

The artist that took home the most awards this year was Grupo Firme, with six total. Not only did they hype the crowd up with their energetic performance, but the Tijuana-originated Regional Mexican band was nominated for a total of nine categories, so their winning odds were in their favor. The awards they received included Regional Mexican – Song of the Year for their smash hit “Ya Supérame (En Vivo)”; Regional Mexican – Banda Song of the Year for their collaboration with Maluma on “Cada Quien”; and Regional Mexican – Grupo o Duo of the Year. They also won Regional Mexican – Album of the Year.

Other highlighted multi-awarded talent included the gala’s own co-host Sebastián Yatra, who took home a total of four awards. His new accolades include Pop – Song of the Year for his popular track “Tacones Rojos”; Pop – Album of the Year for his latest album Dharma; and Pop – Male Artist of the Year.

He wasn’t the only Colombian that thrived with multiple awards, though. Karol G tied with Yatra with a match of four wins. The reggaeton pop star–who also dropped her new album in the last 24 hours–was awarded Urban – Female Artist of the Year; Urban – Song of the Year for “Provenza”; and Song of the Year for her collaboration with Becky G on “MAMIII.” She was also awarded the Premio Lo Nuestro Artist of the Year.

Other notable wins include Marc Anthony, whose recent album Pa’lla Voy won Tropical – Album of the Year; Bad Bunny with three wins including Album of the Year; and Daddy Yankee was awarded the Tour of the Year for his retirement La Última Vuelta World Tour.

New talent was also showcased during the ceremony. Emerging artists like Yahritza y Su Esencia won the Regional Mexican – Sierreña Song of the Year for their track “Soy El Único” while Kim Loaiza took home the award for New Artist Female. Bizarrap also received New Artist Male, DJ of the Year, and Pop-Urban/Dance – Song of the Year for his collaboration with Quevedo.

Other than these wins, the award ceremony also gave three outstanding honors. Ivy Queen received Premio Lo Nuestro’s Musical Legacy – Urban, Intocable received the Premio Lo Nuestro’s excellence award, and Victor Manuelle received Premio Lo Nuestro’s lifetime achievement award.
