This K-Pop Group’s “El Tao Tao” Dance Went Viral, Now They’ve Danced With Grupo Control
After going viral on TikTok for dancing to one of our favorite quinceañera classics, “El Tao Tao,” the K-pop group MustB got to recreate the magic of their viral video with Grupo Control, the masters of the Tao Tao themselves, this past weekend (Sep. 30) during one of their concerts in the Cameron County Amphitheater in South Padre Island, TX.
MustB is a five-member group composed of Doha, Taegeon, Wooyeon, Soohyun, and Sihoo. Back in March, they posted their TikTok cover while the sound was trending on the platform, attracting more than 6.6 million views from fans and non-fans alike. Fans quickly expressed their love for the group’s homage to this Latine classic.
The norteño group from Houston, TX, released “El Tao Tao” in 1999, making it a Latine party staple many of us recognize today. So, it was both a surprise and a colliding of worlds for many fans when Grupo Control not only showed up to MustB’s concert, but went on stage to dance with them.
During the K-pop group’s concert, members of Grupo Control took the stage and led MustB — who happily wore cowboy hats — to the rhythm of “El Tao Tao” with its intricate choreography and hip movements.

According to the group, their management told them only a few hours before their concert that they would be sharing the stage with the original creators of the song. On TikTok, the group wrote, “Happy Hispanic Heritage Month! Grupo Control coming to our concert was a surprise. We weren’t told they were visiting until few hours before ?”
As expected, fans reacted ecstatically on social media. TikTok user @diana_ruiiz said, “broo the chambelanes learning the choreography.” Another user, @derianvences, loved the surprise collaboration so much they said, “what a strange way to ask me to marry, but if I accept.” After videos of the performance were posted, one Twitter said, “My worlds are colliding.
More fans and non-fans alike went crazy after the on-stage collaboration. TikTok user @92_phatom said, “WIN FOR THE MEXICAN KPOP STANS” accompanied by several Mexican flags. The video brought joy and smiles to everyone, including user @rainalcocer who said, “I couldn’t stop smiling. This was so cute. That hip movement though.”
Ultimately, this was a sweet and memorable moment for MustB and fans that they will never forget. Especially for fans who grew up listening to Grupo Control and now love K-pop, this feels like a sweet reminder that, yes, we can have the best of both worlds.
