We Finally Know More Details About Bad Bunny’s Collab With Gorillaz

We finally have a name and date for Bad Bunny’s highly-anticipated collaboration with Gorillaz. During a live interview with BBC Radio 1 on Aug. 31, the English band revealed more details about their new album, including the name of Benito’s forthcoming collaboration.

“We’re putting a record out, it’s going to be called ‘Cracker Island,’” Gorillaz’s Damon Albarn told the radio host. “It’s featuring Bootie Brown, Kevin Parker, Bad Bunny, [and] Stevie Nicks.”

After the exclusive news aired, the band published the album’s tracklist online, revealing that Bad Bunny’s collaboration is called “Tormenta.” While we don’t know if it’ll be an official single, we know that we will be able to hear the song once the album is out on Feb. 24, 2023.

Fans have been anticipating this collaboration since rumors of it surfaced in 2020. Now, we’re one step closer toward the grand reveal. “SHUT THE FRONT DOOR! Gorillaz and bad bunny ?!?!?!!,” Twitter user como__la__flor wrote. “They had me at Tame impala but BAD MF BUNNY!!! Ahhhhhhhh.”

“What I love about Gorillaz is that I can bring [in] anyone I want, you know?” Albarn told Warp last year. “I was in Jamaica recently and recorded a Gorillaz song with Bad Bunny, that’s something exciting for next year.” During the conversation, he also shared that the Bad Bunny collaboration was the first song he made for this new project. “I still don’t know when it will come out, or how we are going to launch it, but we finished it and it is… yes, more or less a reggaeton song. It’s Bad Bunny meets Gorillaz.”

Although Benito’s single was the first made, Gorillaz’s official first album single is “New Gold,” featuring Tame Impala and Bootie Brown.

Could it be that Benito surprises us with a more psychedelic-Caribbean approach on “Tormenta”? We can’t wait to find out!
