7 Daddy Yankee Dream Collabs We Want To See Before His Retirement
Iconic reggaeton global star Daddy Yankee has officially announced his retirement after 32 years of making music and history. Yes, it’s been a hard day of processing the news for those of us who grew up listening to him on the radio. But alas, all good things must come to an end. However, he’s not leaving without saying goodbye. Just like Wisin y Yandel, the Puerto Rican artist will be releasing a final album, Legendaddy, on March 24 and going on a 41-date “La Última Vuelta World Tour.” So we have one last opportunity to sing to “Gasolina” with The Big Boss himself.
While fans are sad about the decision and realize this may be their last opportunity to see the “King of Reggaeton” live, they are also happy knowing that he’s wrapping his legacy with a final bang.
We’d also sell anything for a chance to see Daddy Yankee perform his immaculate collection of hits — which include many classic collaborations. The “Gasolina” singer collaborated with the best of the Latine and American music scene. He is known for his musical trajectory with many hit collaborations throughout his three-decade-long career, including being involved in one of the most popular songs of 2017, “Despacito,” alongside Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi.
Furthermore, what has made him stay on top charts and known globally is that he’s never been one to shy away from unexpected collaborations. We’ve seen him cross almost every genre with his work with icons like Janet Jackson, Pharrell, Snoop Dogg, and Ivy Queen. He also co-signed the newer generation, working with Bad Bunny, Jhay Cortez, and Lunay. But imagine if he had the time to collaborate with other artists that would’ve taken his genre-breaking crossover to another level?
