Bruno Mars & Anderson .Paak Are Granted Their Wish To Perform at GRAMMYs
As the saying goes, “be careful what you ask for, you just might get it.” That is the hope for Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak, the duo who make up Silk Sonic.
Bruno Mars only recently announced that he and .Paak had teamed up, made an entire album, and were releasing their first single “Leave the Door Open.”
Typically, the Recording Academy lets the performer list dribble out bit by bit over a few weeks. However, this year they released all the names at once and absent was Silk Sonic. Earlier, the pair pleaded to perform at the GRAMMYs this weekend–even going so far as to take all the COVID-19 tests they need to in order to perform.
Silk Sonic’s social army took to Twitter and the GRAMMY’s appeared to have listened. If this response from the Recording Academy is any indication, the pair will be playing on the stage come Sunday night–in other words, the door is very much open.
True to form, the GRAMMYs did promise some surprises in store. Already confirmed to perform is Cardi B, who today became the first woman to score a diamond solo song with “Bodak Yellow.” She joins Bad Bunny, Taylor Swift, and Dua Lipa. The GRAMMYs air live on Sunday night on CBS at 8 p.m. EST / 5 p.m. PST.
