Gabrielle Union Beats the Winter Blues in Valentino
For living in the northern hemisphere, winter is currently in full swing. While the season’s snow days can lead to great fashion moments—Irina Shayk, for example, has been making the most of the statement coat—its bundled up look isn’t for everyone. Gabrielle Union doesn’t let weather stand in the way of her latest, vibrant style moment, though. Yesterday on Instagram, Union updated with a pair of pieces from Valentino’s SS21 runway. Initially worn by model Maximillian Peck during Pierpaolo Piccioli’s romantic show back in September, the black button-down shirt detailed with embroidered flowers and the matching shorts were irresistibly summer-y. Everything from the green and gold blossoms to the breezy crochet lace material conjured thoughts of tropical getaways.
On the runway, the shorts and blouse combo skewed sporty, thanks to the white low-top sneakers it was paired with. But Union and stylist Thomas Christos Kikis put their own stamp on the outfit. Statement accessories like Union’s golden ear-cuffs and rings provided a touch of bling, while a bright yellow pair of Ferragamo’s peep-toe Sansu sandals brought the color story from head to toe. The shoes elevated the entire look, something Union noted on Instagram. “You know it’s serious when I put on a funky chunky kitten heel,” she wrote.
Curved heels are nice, but the star’s glamorous new hairstyle stole the show. Perfectly coiffed with cornrows and sleek baby hair, Union was at her best. The hair—and minimalist makeup by Fiona Styles—proved so alluring she took to social media to share closeups of the style created by Larry Sims, the co-founder of her beauty range Flawless. Now there’s a word that aptly describes Union’s total look.
