EXCLSV Interview: Tae UMG – “On My Own”

Hi Tae UMG, hope you are well and healthy! How are you and how have you been affected by the nationwide lockdown so far?

Yes I’m good and my family is too. It’s just being a single parent raising my two daughters been a lil stressful bc they are home from school 3 days out the week and I’d rather them be in school full time again. That’s the only way I’ve been affected so far.

First of all, congratulations on your new song and music video “On My Own,” we loved it. Could you tell us more about the inspiration behind it? And was the shooting of the music video a fun experience? Any behind-the-scenes story with Tyblee?

Thank you and basically the inspiration behind it was the facts we normally do things on our own. We try our best not to ask anyone for help when we can try to figure it out ourselves. Plus really no one ever helped us so basically we had to figure it out on our own.

How would you describe your musical style?

I would say my musical style is like a trap-ish, hip hop, and rap but I’ll try a lil r&b too if I have to lol.

Who are the artists that you look up to, past and present?

Well in the past I would say LL Cool J, Busta Rhymes, 2Pac, going into Gucci, Jeezy, T.I, Lil Wayne, and with the new era I would say Lil Baby bc to me he’s on top of the game right now.

Where do you find your inspiration and motivation?

I would say my kids. They the one who give me inspiration and the ppl that’s close to me, give me the motivation I need bc they believe in me so as long as those ppl behind I believe I can take off.

What is one experience in life that, without it, you wouldn’t be the artist you are today?

I would say my childhood, growing up seeing the things I saw and all the things I did. It was rough growing up. A single mother raising 6 kids on her own tryna to make ends meet, bills, putting clothes on our backs and food on the table. At some point I had to get it on my own bc I know what I want in life. Not trying to be that dusty lil boy sharing clothes no more. I’m trying to come out on top. So I did what I had to do to do so.

Please tell us more about your upcoming projects.

Me and my cousin Tyblee are currently working on our album “BloodCuzzins” because we are actually blood cousins lol but we will be dropping singles as well. Singles that might not be on the album.
