WATCH: Shakira Surprises Carlos Vives Amid Live Performance in Miami

Shakira surprised Carlos Vives this weekend. On Oct. 28, the Colombian icon sneaked up on her compatriot while he performed their popular collaboration “La Bicicleta” at the Kaseya Center in Miami, FL. Vives’ reaction? Nothing short of priceless.

The “TQG” singer kept this surprise under wraps, later sharing on her social media that nobody knew but the production manager. She filmed Vives’ epic reaction on her Instagram Live, showing her audience how it all went down. Before joining the “La Gota Fría” singer on stage, Shak tells her fans that she’s never done this before; she appears to be excited and dances along to the collaboration that’s already well underway on stage.

Once she goes up the stage, the crowd cheers loudly. Vives is pleasantly shocked and walks away from Shak, then comes back and hugs her. The two share the epic moment by dancing together and interacting with the crowd. After the song is over, Shakira tells the audience that he didn’t know anything about the surprise. After the unexpected duet, Vives sang “Currambera” – the rhythmic jam he wrote for the Colombian queen – as Shak danced to it. “CURRAMBERA is an homage to Shak and through her, the barranquillera women, called Curramberas,” he said at the time.

Social media users are thrilled about the team-up. “Seeing Shakira smiling and happy dancing to the song that Carlos vives made her ‘Currambera’ is priceless! That little girl deserves it all #Shakira,” a fan wrote online.

Later that same day (Oct. 28), Vives wrote on his Instagram: “I’m still shaking, I’m in SHOCK!!!❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥 @shakira.”

“La Bicicleta” earned the two Colombian icons two Latin Grammys in 2016. The joint track won awards for Record of the Year and Song of the Year. Vives will continue his U.S. tour in Dallas, TX, on Nov. 2; Houston, TX, on Nov. 3; and Los Angeles, CA, on Nov. 5.
