WATCH: Romeo Santos & Christian Nodal Toast for Love on “Me Extraño”

On Oct. 14, the highly-acclaimed artist Romeo Santos dropped the music video for his first-ever Regional Mexican track “Me Extraño” featuring Christian Nodal. The result? An emotional conversation about how one man’s cold past is another man’s bright future over a classic-sounding ranchera tune.

“Me Extraño X @nodal vídeo oficial YA DISPONIBLE #FV3,” Santos wrote on his announcement Instagram post

The Fernando Lugo-directed music video follows Santos as he croons about losing a lover to someone that’s a better fit for her. Through the lyrics, he recognizes how he lost himself while also losing his past lover. Nodal then goes on the stage and, through his lyrics, thanks the King of Bachata for essentially getting out of the picture and expresses how he saved the woman from Santos’ “cold kisses.” In the subsequent frames, both prominent artists have drinks together, toasting to moving on. However, the “celebration” ends as Santos sits and drinks alone, showing facial expressions of remorse.

Fans are excited about the mesh of the two singer’s signature voices. A Youtube user, Lisseth Estrada, wrote: “I love them, each one has a unique feeling for singing, and they transmit it.” Another Youtube user, Music NiceTV, commented: “What a fusion of voices and talent. It is amazing how good this mix sounds.”

Other social media users point out Santos’ musical diversity. A Youtube user, Nexayan Lopez, wrote: “The king of bachata singing a ranchera♥️ this man sings in whatever genre and however he sings, and he always gets everything right, that’s called art.” Another Youtube user, Patty Villacis B, agreed: “I loved it!!! What a versatility of the king, and Nodal doesn’t fall behind.”

This epic crossover is part of Romeo Santos’ newest album Fórmula Vol. 3, which includes his collabs with Justin Timberlake on “Sin Fin” and Rosalía on “El Pañuelo.” Besides these last musical releases, Santos is also nominated for two Latin Grammys this year. He’s up for “Best Long Form Music Video” and “Best Urban Fusion/Interpretation.”
